Empty oil from drain plug
May as well change your oil filter since you will have to refill the oil
Loosen bolts on oil pan
Take pan out, may need to pry a bit if it sticks.
Take a scraper and remove all of the old gasket and sealer from the pan and block
May as well clean out the oil pan if it is gunky, use gas to rinse, not water. Dry it out.
Put new sealer on pan careful to not plug up bolt holes
Lay gasket over that
Bolt up to block, use torque specs. ask parts store for those. Tighten in a varrying pattern like lug nuts, not clockwise or you will tighten uneven and squeeze gasket wrong which can lead to a leak.
Refill car with oil.

How much does it cost to change an oil pan on a 90 ford bronco full size.i heard the engine has to be lifted.?
It shouldn't be that much, I believe at max 2 hours labor.
The engine does need to be lifted, but can be done with a floor jack or with an engine hoist. The engine DOES NOT need to come out of the engine compartment though.

How long will your car last WITHOUT oil change?
I just went to my friendly local quicky oil change shop for a oil change today. I was told I can't get a oil change because apparently the oil drain pan was rusted out and the sludge from old oil help keep it seal. I was also told that the replacement for the oil drain pan would cost about $1,000. I love my old crappy car but I don't love it enough to save it with $1,000.
So the only reasonable course to take was to drive it to the ground.
I have few questions though.
1. Is it safe to not change oil(will the car blow up?)
2. How long would my car last without changing oil ( I last changed about 9 months/3,000 miles ago)?
3. are there any alternates to not changing oil/repair?

And I wouldn't expect an engine to seize at the most convenient location when you happen to be driving the vehicle.
You may wish to have someone else look at the condition of the oil pan. Quicky change oil places are good for routine stuff, but I wouldn't expect to get a highly qualified estimate from one of these places. If your pan is rusty, it's rusty - can avoid that. However, given that you successfully had the oil changed 9 months ago, my question is if the oil change shop you went to just didn't want to open up the job for liability reasons. Take it to another garage...they may need to change the oil drain plug...bout $5 for that...but it can be changed. my uncle and I own a garage and we'd never do that. might destroy the drain plug but it can be replaced. and to change the pan for $1000? that's absurd...maybe $200 if the pan is damaged but not anything like you are describing.

It all depends how accessible the bolts are sometimes they can be a bit difficult to get at- but its not hard 3 to 4 I would say - make sure everything is spot less - I will carefully clean the service with turps(lint free cloth) and apply a bead of silicone to both metal services before offering the sump up with new gasket- do not over tighten the bolts or you will compress the new gasket too much and tighten the bolts evenly like you would replacing a wheel- do it stages first finger tighten them with a socket and extension bar untill you feel a bit of resistance then nip them with tauqe wrench to the requierd taque!

Being a W-body car, you have a full engine cradle. Being a 97 you have squarish aluminum oil pan, right? These can be a tight fit, and unless you have equipment and means to lift the engine a bit, then you might wanna let a shop do this...

Fortunately for you it's one of the easiest oil pans out there to remove and install.
