are needed to put in when I have my trans pan kit changed? I normally use 5quarts when the engine oil is changed on a 96 suburban with 454 motor.

the whole tranny takes 11.5 sooooo get 9 just to be safe. Replace everything and put in 5 quarts. Start the vehicle and run through all the gears waiting about 10sec in between shifting. check level and add. repeat until the fluid is correct on the dipstick
